At the ceremony held in Sarajevo on February 22 in Bosnian Cultural Center, NGO Gariwo Sarajevo and City of Sarajevo granted the Dusko Kondor Civil Courage Award for 2011 to those brave people who risked their own lives by standing up to negative authorities and acting accoring to their own values. The award commemorates Dusko Kondor, an uncompromising champion of civil courage, who was assassinated in his own home in Bjeljina on the 22nd of February 2007. His name has become a symbol of civil courage. The audience was addressed by the High Representative Valentin Inzko (read speech here ), Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway in B&H, HE Jan Braathu (read speech here ), Chairman of the Gariwo International Board, Founding President of Templeton College, Oxford, Uwe Kitzinger CBE (read speech here ), Board member of NGO Gariwo Sarajevo, professor of philosophy at University „Kiril and Metodij“ in Skopje, Ferid Muhić (read speech here ), Deputy Mayor of Sarajevo, Mr Miroslav Živanović, (read speech here ). The ceremony was attended by numerous members of the diplomatic corps, politicians and workers in the non-governmental sector, dear guests from Croatia, Montenegro and Macedonia and more than 600 high school students from Stolac, Trebinje, Bihać, Mostar, Zenica, Tuzla, Konjic, Bijeljina and Sarajevo. Based on the 43 proposals received, the Commission agreed to make the awards for 2011 as: The Dusko Kondor Award for Civil Courage: - Josip Reihl Kir - posthumously
- Dr Zlatko Hrvić - posthumously
- Dr Sekul Stanić - posthumously
- Zoran Mandlbaum
