  Uncompromising champion of civil courage, Director of Gariwo's Schools of Civil Courage, professor in the high school in Bijeljina, and a member of the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Republika Srpska, Dusko Kondor has been posthumously named as a Righteous by the Guarantors' Committee of the Garden of the Righteous Worldwide in Milan.
On the assembly held on February 6, 2009 the Association for the Garden of the Righteous of Milan chose Dusko Kondor as an exemplary figures to be honored by the dedication of a tree. The memorial stone with Dusko Kondor's name was situated under the tree dedicated to him on the ceremony held on May 5. Beside Dusko Kondor for more people and one organization was named as a Righteous: Pierantonio Costa, Hrant Dink, Anna Politkovskaya, Khaled Abdul Wahab and Italian Righteous among the Nations. Dusko Kondor was assassinated in his own home in Bijeljina on the 22nd of February 2007. His name has become a symbol of civil courage.
In early 2008 the non-governmental organization GARIWO Sarajevo established the Dusko Kondor Civil Courage Award. "Probably the most important thing is that he has made this network of young people, who in this way have become friends. He connected young people of all different nationalities and religions, and through them their cities and states. This is a true achievement of inexpressible value.   Founder and Director of NGO Gariwo Dr. Svetlana Broz was invited by President of the Committee for Human Rights in the Senate of the Republic of Italy Mr. Pietro Marcenaro to deliver a speech: The Role of Righteous in Education Towards Civil Courage in Bosnia and Herzegovina on the first edition of the international cultural event entirely dedicated to the ethical and political project of democracy called Biennale Democrazia (The Democracy Biennial). The Democracy Biennial took place in Torino from 22 to 26 April 2009, organized by the City of Torino and the Italia Committee and the Piedmont Regional government.

  On the April 16, two very successful events have been held in Prijedor, organized by Local Democracy Agency - Prijedor and NGO Gariwo Sarajevo. Lecture about civil courage was scheduled and held for the pupils of the Secondary School for Economics and their professors. Founder and Director of NGO GARIWO Sarajevo Dr Svetlana Broz talked to the participants about symbols of civil courage and their nonviolent resistance to the negative authorities. Dr Broz has mentioned several examples of negative authorities and their behavior from her own experience in work with other students across the B&H, in order to emphasize problem of the youngster's apathy.
After the lecture, copies of the books Imam petlju (Having What it Takes) and new book from edition "Question of All Questions", Seven Steps of Non-violent Resistance by Michael Nagler, were distributed to the attendees free of charge, thanks to the generous contribution of the Norwegian Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Also, copies of the book Good people in an Evil Time were distributed to all participants, thanks to the Local Democracy Agency - Prijedor. At the public launching of the book Good People in an Evil Time, by Svetlana Broz, scheduled for the afternoon, citizens of the Prijedor had chance to exchange their opinions about this book and share their thoughts with the author.  Dr. Svetlana Broz, Director of NGO Gariwo, delivered the convention's keynote address at the Monmouth University's Eighth Annual Global Understanding Convention.
