For the first time since the murder of professor Dusko Kondor, NGO Gariwo has organized Civil Courage School on Bjelasnica mountain 1-8 March, 2010.
Twenty five students from the region (Monte Negro, Macedonia, Croatia and different parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina) attended the seminar and lecture.
At the seminar, participants had lectures and intensive discussions on the following topics:
- Civil courage ,from idea to the realization (Ms. Svetlana Broz) - Fighting against negative authority, alone or in team? (Mr. Bahrudin Fazlic) - What do we gain and lose when showing the civil courage (H.E. Jan Braathu, Ambassador of Kingdom of Norway in B&H) - Would we react to negative authorities, when and why (Mr. Uwe Kitzinger CBE, Chairman of the Gariwo International Board, Founding President of Templeton College, Oxford). |

The wounded city greets another day of life. Fog from the surrounding mountains hangs over the Miljacka valley. The Eternal Flame in Titova Street burns with its usual glow. Morning crowds, glad still to be alive, go almost carelessly about their daily duties. In the general melancholy and depression, people desperately search for the meaning of life. After everything that has happened here, to celebrate life and humanity seems vain.
But, luckily, not everyone takes that view.

On February 26, 2010, NGO Gariwo and Foundation Imam petlju Gariwo held another round table in Jewish Community of Sarajevo in cooperation with IMIC - International Multi-religious Intercultural Centre. The topic of the round table was Dusko Kondor Award for Civil Courage laureates of 2010. Following the detailed presentation about the laureates and the discussion, all participants received free copies of books "Having what it takes" and "Seven steps to non-violent resistance" and Dusko Kondor Civil Courage Award brochures. |

  On Wednesday 10.02.2010 a session of Meeting of students with Ambassador of Kingdom of Spain H.E. Alejandro Enrique Alvargonzalez San Martin was held in offices of NGO Gariwo and Foundation Imam petlju on the topic "Bosnia and Herzegovina in EU - a near future?". Ambassador spoke about the conditions and obstacles of Bosnia and Herzegovina in process of EU accession and compared that process with that of Spain in the 80s and offered a few recommendations in discussion with students. |

F ormal Policy Working Group for the development and promotion of the Law on Volunteerism in FBiH was established in March of 2009. UNV presides over the group made up of representatives of government and international organizations (OSCE BIH, OKC Banja Luka, CPCD Sarajevo, Sumero Sarajevo, KULT Sarajevo, Osmijeh Gradacac and others). The group has also gathered more than 50 letters of support from NGOs and other initiatives in the country and the draft of Law on Volunteering was presented to the Federal Commission for Coordination of Youth Issues in November of 2009. Our goal is for it to enter parliamentary procedure in the following two months and the Law to be adopted by the summer of 2010. Enclosed is the draft of the Law (in B/H/S) .
